Busy Season

14/6/18 - Rather than training tonight, the Bethel under 8 and 9’s joined together for a friendly. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves.
23/6/18 - Cae Glyn Tournament
Luckily the new tent had arrived for today as it was incredibly hot on the fields at Syr Hugh Owen school, and it lovely to shelter from the sun. The team only had 5 players as Adam had gone to Cardiff to see Ed Sheeran. The team managed won all their group games and only conceded one goal. Bethel therefore made the semi-final and once again emerged victorious to go through to the final. The final was against Penrhos, a side they’d beaten earlier that day. Everyone was tired and according to Andrew the team didn’t turn up and lost 1-0. Although there were some disappointed players, they can take heart by their excellent performances.
1/7/18 - Tigers Tournament
The players were ready for it today and with 8 players there was plenty of opportunity for everyone to have a break during the day. Similar to the Cae Glyn tournament the week before, the side won all their games and earned a place in the final, once again against Penrhos! Once again, they lost by a single goal with luck being against them. Despite the defeat they were in much better spirits and proud of their second spot. It was great to see them congratulating each other. There are some very good players in the side with an exciting future ahead. All the best for the remainder of the season!

Bethel v Penrhosgarnedd at Treborth, Bangor
A poor start tonight with Penrhos taking a 4-1 lead. Fortunately, Bethel remembered at half time that they were playing and not watching the game and came storming back, scoring 4 goals without reply to finish victorious 5-4. Thank you to Penrhos for the welcome.

Sunday 13 May 2018

Under 8'sMany congratulations to this team for their tremendous effort in Llandudno Junction’s football tournament on Sunday 13 May.

The tournament contained several strong sides and Bethel managed to reach the semi final where they lost by a single goal. Bethel were very close to reaching the final and eventually finished 3rd.
It was a great experience for the boys, the coaches and the parents to play different opposition, with the football very different to usual. All the best for the remaining tournaments. The tent has also arrived!

Saturday 17 March 2018

Under 8'sBethel (9) V Bontnewydd (0)

Bethel’s under 8 team played against Bontnewydd at Cae top Bethel this morning. Both teams played in their coats as it was freezing (it was snowing!!). The parents (and the boys) were relieved to hear the whistle, everybody ran inside to keep warm. Well done boys – you played well once again.

Under 8'sOn Sunday the 4th of March 2018, Bethel’s Under 8 football team ran 1.2miles in Anglesey’s Dragon Dash race. Thank you for sponsoring them. Saturday 11 November 2017

What a great morning with the team showing how performing together as a team can influence the score. Incredible!!! Everyone demonstrated their skill and new techniques, but most of all team-work. There was great passing with regular attacks with the results a reflection on the standard of play this morning. Keep at it boys!

Bethel (5) v Cae Glyn (2)

Scorers: Riley (2), Max (1), Steff (1), Deio (1)

A great start to the season with Bethel performing strongly against Cae Glyn

Saturday 14 October 2017

Bethel 6 - Bethesda 3

Scorers: Jac Lloyd-Williams, Llyr a Iestyn (4)

The best performance of the season so far with everyone in the team using the ball well and aware of their positions throughout. The best example of playing from the back from any team this season was demonstrated by Nia, exactly like Franco Baresi or Fabio Cannavaro from the great Italian team.
The team went ahead 3-0 early in the game and extended this to 5-1 before the opponents struck near in the end in a 6-3 win to Bethel. The scorers were Jac Lloyd-Williams, Llyr and Iestyn (4).

Saturday 7 October 2017

Llanberis v Bethel

A good start again this week with Jac Green and Iestyn putting the team ahead. Bethel lost control a little after the break but then responded strongly. A close even game with effort and commitment from everyone. The focus for the next training will be on moving the ball quickly between each other.

September 30 2017

Bethel v Bontnewydd

A better start today and the team generally kept their shape better and trusted their teammates. Bethel went 2 goals up early on but by half time it was all square. Bethel dominated after the break, scoring 7 without reply. Although the attack was excellent, deserved praise needs to be given to the defence (Llyr and Jack Green) who didn’t miss a tackle all game.

September 23 2017

Bethel v Llandwrog

A slow start from the team today (don’t forget kick-off 9:30 not meeting time 9:30!) but as the game progressed they came more and more into the game. It was 3-1 to Llandwrog at the final whistle but on the request of the opposition a second game was held with Bethel creating chance after chance. Iestyn was on the scoresheet and through the game there was more evidence of team play. It finished 5-3, although a goal was ruled out right on the final whistle. There was at least 10 great chances and if the team continue to play like this the goals will come.

September 16 2017

Llanrug v Bethel

After two weeks of continuous rain, the game had to be moved from Bethel’s waterlogged pitch to Llanrug. The team started well with purposeful passing but it was Llanrug who went infront, but gradually Bethel got more organised, and after a cracking goal from Gruff Bethel finished the game strongly. Maths is a weakness for the coach! But the general opinion is that the game finished level 4-4 with a positive optimists thinking Bethel sneaked it!

September 9 2017

Nantlle Vale v Bethel

Again this season there is a bigger pitch, with larger goals and 7 a side.
Although with only one training session held, Bethel travelled to one of the strongest sides in the league to start the season. Unfortunately, Liam had left the team but with 3 new players joining to create a stronger squad. Although it wasn’t a full squad for the 1st game, it was a positive start with no goals during the first 15 minutes, but a few changes created some uncertainty and Nantlle Vale scored regularly until Bethel tightened things during the last 10 minutes.
A very encouraging start, with a few things to work on tactically due to unfamiliarity of the players with each other and a new 7 vs 7 format. Keep the faith!
